SIE Organizes International Students to Visit Guangdong Science Center

Organized by the School of International Education (SIE), 45 international students from more than 30 countries studying in China visited the Guangdong Science Center on the afternoon of June 6 to gain a deeper insight into the scientific and technological development of China.

After listening to the introduction on the status, functions and main exhibitions of the Guangdong Science Center, the international students mainly visited and experienced the Transportation World, Space Dreams, Green Homeland and other exhibition areas. In the Transportation World area, they learned about how the evolution of science and technology has promoted the evolution of transportation and basic principles of transportation means, and experienced the vehicle 360° rolling experiment, autonomous driving technology, driving simulation and other technologies. In the Space Dreams area, they explored human's history of flight, understanding of the universe and efforts in space exploration. They also learned about the brilliant achievements made by China's space industry, which are highlighted in the area, and experienced trainings for astronauts, weightlessness, etc. In the green homeland area, they experienced the destructive force and the effect on human of the force 10 typhoon. Finally, the students watched the 4D movie Golden Monkeys - Sichuan Snub-nosed Monkeys.

The visit, which lasted more than three hours, was so impressive that the international students were reluctant to leave. They expected to pay a longer visit again with their families and admired that the Chinese people have such a high-level scientific experience and popularization venue. 

The Guangdong Science Center is a large-scale comprehensive science popularization venue as a part of the implementation of the strategies "Develop Guangdong through Science and Education" and "Powerful Province in Talent" and for the improvement of scientific and cultural quality of people. The center features four functions of scientific education, scientific and technological achievements display, international academic exchanges and science-oriented tourism. Certified by Guinness World Records and awarded the title of "the largest science museum/science center" in the world, it is a representative project of China green buildings, an important display window for scientific and technological achievements of Guangdong Province and a landmark of Guangzhou.
