In order to enhance the enthusiasm of Chinese language learning and to enrich the 

study life of the overseas students, the School of International Education is planning 

to carry out a competition of calligraphy (Chinese character hand-writing) and 

recitation (reading aloud different texts in Chinese) among the overseas students.

Part One Competition of Calligraphy (Chinese character hand-writing)

1.Directions for the Competition

Every competitor (can apply one writing paper from the office) submits a handwriting 

work to the office：（ Specify 1 piece of poetry）

1.1The Optional 1 piece works from students of class Aand B should contain no less than 50 characters. Works from students of classC. and class D contain no less than50- 100 characters.

1.2 Topics of the submitted works are not limited but should not be inappropriate. The 

handwriting should comply to the writing norms, neat and with correct punctuation.

1.3 Original works are encouraged.

2.Deadline for Submission of Works

Competitors should submit your works to the office R.M.811 at the attention of Ms Huang before May27th, 2016. Please write your name and class no. on the works submitted.

3.Awards

Teachers will evaluate upon all the works submitted and choose 1 first prize work,1 

second prize works, 2 third prize works and a number of honorable prize works. The 

students of the prize works will be awarded corresponding gifts and certificates in the process of the recitation competition at the June.3^nd. Friday.2016

Part Two Recitation Competition

1. Directions

Competitors perform a live recitation in Chinese within 5 minutes. （Specify 1 piece of poetry+ Optional 1 piece/introduction ）

1.1 Appropriate content with clear main idea；

1.2 Standard Mandarin pronunciation and clear utterance；

1.3 Smooth expression and fit fluency；

1.4 Reciting with appeal and the body actions increasing the effects of expression；

1.5 Decent dress and natural manner。

2. Competition Time

 At the end of June 3^nd.Friday.2016

3.Awards

competitors 1 first prize work, 1 second prize works, 2 third prize works and a number 

of honorable prize works for each group.
