For the purpose of helping the international students in China to appreciate the cultural connotation of South Guangdong and cultivating international talents who "know, befriend and love Guangdong", on the afternoon of October 12, 2019, School of International Education (SIE) organized 33 international students from the Business Administration Class of 2019 and the Chinese Language Training Elite Class to Mount Baiyun for cultural experience.

At 4 o'clock in the afternoon, teachers and the students arrived at the South Gate of Mount Baiyun and started mountain climbing. Mount Baiyun is the natural oxygen bar in Guangzhou City, having a reputation of “First Beauty of Yangcheng” since ancient times. The international students enjoyed the natural scenery of Mount Baiyun and experienced the leisure and fun of people living in Guangzhou. They also chatted with the mountain-climbing citizens in Chinese, attracting many people to come and take photos. After climbing to the top, they took a view at the city and appreciated the prosperity of Guangzhou being an international metropolis.

At 7 o'clock in the evening, teachers and the students continued to visit the lantern exhibition in Yuntai Garden. The theme of the lantern exhibition combined with the 70th anniversary of the founding of the People's Republic of China. It launched three exhibition areas including the "70 years of Development, and A New Era of Booming", the "Beautiful Homeland of Magnificent Mountains and Rivers", and the "Wishes to Our Motherland and a New Era for the Beautiful Guangdong ". Watching the lantern exhibition enabled the international students to experience not only the traditional Chinese culture, but also China's 70 years of development and changes.

Mr. Zeng Jiajin, the deputy Dean of SIE, attended the event in person, as the Chinese and English interpreter. The international students all expressed that the event was very interesting and meaningful, which enhanced their understanding of China and Guangzhou City. This event is also an important move for SIE to further enhance the influence of elite education.
