To honor the international students at Guangdong Polytechnic Normal University (GPNU) who have won the Guangdong Provincial Government Scholarship, the School of International Education (SIE) held 2018 Guangdong Provincial Government Scholarship Award Ceremony on the afternoon of December 20, 2018 at First Teaching Building room 209, main campus. Vice President Xu Ling presented honorary credentials to 60 international students from 19 nations, including France , Italy , Moldova , Pakistan , and Ivory Coast . Many of the foreign students are outstanding in both character and academic results—some of them have won this scholarship for 3 or 4 consecutive years, some have won second prize in Lingnan Culture Knowledge Competition for Guangdong International Students, some have ranked high among athletes taken part in Guangzhou Friendship Games and Sports Meet of GPNU, and one who have reserved no efforts in returning lost property to the owner.

Since the founding of the scholarship, the number of scholarship-winners has increased with the increase in number of students admitted into GPNU. The number of scholarship-winners in 2018 is nearly 5 times as much as that in 2014 when the scholarship was first founded.

The scholarship awarding activity has greatly stimulated the proactivity and initiative of international students in study. The scholarship-winners expressed their resolve to cherish the education opportunity, to actively take part in GPNU's activities, to acquire deeper knowledge about China 's excellent traditional culture, and to bridge China and foreign nations.

We have learned that the scholarship, founded by Guangdong Government, aims at attracting and encouraging more outstanding international students to study in Guangdong, greatly promoting the healthy and rapid development of Guangdong's higher education for foreign students, and advancing the international influence and internationalization of Guangdong's higher education. Evaluated once a year, the scholarship is for outstanding foreign students studying in Guangdong.

To maximize the effects of the scholarship, SIE formulated the 'Measures for Assessing Eligibility for Guangdong Provincial Government Scholarship for international Students of Guangdong Polytechnic  Normal University'. The measures have set more detailed assessment conditions, and have given weighted average to academic results, attendance, award-winning, etc., so as to improve international students' comprehensive quality.
