In order to memorize the 97th anniversary of the foundation of the Chinese Communist Party (CCP), mobilize the activeness and initiatives of the Party members to learn and inherit the red gene as well as help the international students in further learning about the Chinese contemporary history and revolutionary history, on the morning of June 26, 2018, the members of the Communist Party Branch directly under School of International Education (SIE) and 7 international students from countries including France, Congo (Brazzaville), Senegal and Ivory Coast went to the National Institute of Peasant Movement Established by Mao Zedong for visiting and studying.

The site of the National Institute of Peasant Movement Established by Mao Zedong was the national institute set up by Mao Zedong in Guangzhou in 1926, trained many important backbones for the Chinese peasants' revolutionary movement. It played an important role in Chinese revolutionary history. It is also the enlightenment and source of Chairman Mao’s thought of “a single spark can start a prairie fire”.

The thematic Party Day Activity was the first time for the Party members of the International Education School to use English to explain the Chinese revolutionary history. In order to vividly interpret the contents on the historical base, the Party members carefully studied relevant books regarding Chinese Peasant Movement, further understood the background of KMT-CCP Cooperation as well as the history of the National Institute of Peasant Movement, and came to the Institute to study for many times before the visit. At the same time, in order to interpret in fluent and accurate English, the Party members carried out discussion for several times. During the visit, the Party embers presented in turn the history of the Institute, the background of KMT-CCP Cooperation, the source and influences of Chinese Peasant Movement, the history and the guiding principles of Chinese Communist Party establishment.

International students showed keen interest in the presentations and the visit. They listened to the explanations during the visit, and asked questions interactively. The international students and the Party members had further discussion in terms of the questions, such as why the Chinese Communist Party could finally triumph, why the Peasant Movement had deep influence on the result of the Chinese revolution, and the connotation and meanings of the Party flag.

The visit lasted nearly 3 hours. Through the thematic Party Day Activity, the Party members said that such activity was very challenging. They not only had to have deep studying and understanding in Chinese revolutionary history, but also should be able to express in English fluently, meanwhile should have solid basis of the Party construction theory, ready to answer the questions raised by the international students at any time. Even so, the Party members said that the studying effects were prominent. They could further strengthen the ideal and belief, tamp the basis of the theory study of Party construction, closely combine the theory studying and practice, and eventually achieve the result of consolidation in mind and practice in reality.

It was generally reckoned by the international students that the activity made them clearly recognize the Chinese contemporary history and the development of the Chinese Communist Party, favorable for further understanding the political system in China as well as Xi Jinping’s ruling principles, which were not accessible in class. They expected that there would more similar activities in the future.
