On the afternoon of December 14, the School of International Education held a symposium for international students for the first semester of the 2024-2025 academic year in Room 701, First Teaching Building, East Campus. The event was chaired by Zeng Jiajin, a university-level supervisor and director of the Teaching and Research Office. Attendees included college-level supervisors Yang Furong and Yan Hui, academic affairs staff, and student representatives from four classes across three programs: undergraduate, master’s, and Chinese language training.

Zeng Jiajin warmly welcomed the international student representatives and emphasized the symposium’s significance in fostering teacher-student communication and improving the teaching and learning environment. During the discussion, student representatives actively shared their experiences and insights on academic and campus life.
Regarding academics, the students highlighted the challenges of learning Chinese characters and expressed hopes for more tailored teaching methods to enhance efficiency. On campus life, they voiced a desire for increased social and cultural activities, such as cultural salons, outdoor team-building events, and holiday celebrations. These initiatives, they noted, would help students from diverse backgrounds connect, build friendships, and contribute to building a more inclusive and harmonious international community. The faculty responded that the college would actively adopt these suggestions and begin planning related activities to create more opportunities for interaction.
Zeng Jiajin commended the students for their proactive participation and assured them that the college would address every suggestion seriously. He pledged to advance educational reforms, optimize services for international students, and ensure access to high-quality academic resources and a vibrant campus life at East Campus.
