On the afternoon of April 16, 2025, the School of International Education at Guangdong Polytechnic Normal University (GPNU) (Multimodal Social Science Popularization Base for Lingnan Culture) organized a collaborative cultural study tour titled ‌“Exploring the Ancient Rhythms of Nanyue, Discovering the Splendor of Chinese Civilization”‌ for Chinese and international students. Through a field visit to the Nanyue King Museum, the event successfully bridged cultural dialogue between young scholars worldwide, using historical artifacts as a medium. This activity was part of the ‌“Guangzhou Social Science Popularization Series”‌ hosted by the Guangzhou Federation of Social Sciences.

As a landmark institution of Lingnan culture, the Nanyue King Museum houses over 10,000 precious artifacts excavated from the site of the Nanyue Kingdom’s palace complex. International students from Russia, Kazakhstan, the Democratic Republic of the Congo, and other countries, alongside Chinese students, toured the museum’s Palace Exhibition Hall, the original Nanyue King Tomb site, artifact galleries, and thematic exhibitions under the guidance of professional docents. In the Palace Exhibition Hall, participants were transported back over 2,000 years to experience the ingenuity and grandeur of ancient Lingnan architecture. The well-preserved tomb structure, burial offerings, and exquisite displays of bronzeware, jade artifacts, and ceramics offered students a vivid understanding of Guangzhou’s 2,000-year urban and cultural legacy.

Beyond the guided tour, the program featured an interactive Q&A session themed ‌“Historical Culture of the Nanyue Kingdom and the Maritime Silk Road.”‌ International students actively applied their newly acquired Chinese language and cultural knowledge to answer questions and share insights, with top performers awarded customized cultural souvenirs. This immersive learning model not only deepened international students’ understanding of ancient Chinese civilization but also enhanced their Chinese language proficiency and cross-cultural communication skills.
