I Scholarship Types and Awards Amount
(I) Guangdong Government Outstanding International Student Scholarship for at School Students
The scholarship is to award international students who are excellent in personal character and learning and receive academic education in Guangdong province.
Awards Amount:
Master Program: 20,000 RMB per year;
Undergraduate Program:10,000 RMB per year.
(II) Guangdong Government Outstanding International Student Scholarship for Freshmen
The scholarship is to award freshmen who are excellent in personal character and learning in admission for receiving academic education in Guangdong province. Awards Amount:
Master Program: 20,000 RMB per year;
Undergraduate Program:10,000 RMB per year.
II Requirement of Scholarship Applicants:
(I) General Requirements
The applicants must have foreign nationality, hold valid foreign passport and, be in good health condition and has friendly attitude to China. The applicants should study hard, have good conducts with no violation of Chinese laws and regulations as well as university and school rules.
(II) Specific Requirements of Scholarship Applicants
1. Applicants for at School Students Scholarship(include undergraduate and master)
(1) The age of the applicant should be under 40(included).
(2) The applicants shall have received academic education in GPNU for more than one year (included) and should have an excellent academic performance, pass all the courses in last academic year with an average score of not lower than 80 and with the attendance rate not lower than 90%.
(III) Applicants for Freshmen Scholarship
Undergraduate
(1) The age of the applicants should be under 30(included).
(2) The applicants should submit the transcript confirmed by the graduate school.
(3) If the applicants only have a senior high school certificate, they should provide 2 recommendation letters, one from the principal of that school and the other from one of the teachers.
If the applicants already have a degree or have a certificate which above senior high school, shall provide two recommendation letters form 2 professors or associate professors of their graduated school.
(4) The applicants should have excellent academic performance, with clear objectives of study, and fill in the application form with clear learning plan according to the university's professional setting and the applicant’s own interests and expertise.
Master
(1)The applicants should apply to receive master education in Guangdong. The age of the applicants should be under 35(included).
(2)The applicants should provide 2 recommendation letters from professors or associate professors from the graduate school, together with the transcript confirmed by the graduate school.
III Scholarship Application Procedures and Assessment
(I) Preliminary Assessment and Recommendation for at School Students Scholarship applicants
Applicants who are qualified for the application requirements should truthfully fill the Application Form of Guangdong Government Outstanding International Student Scholarship((Form I) and hand in to the Teaching Affairs Office of School of International Education in stipulated time. A small one-inch photo is needed to attach to the form.
(II) Preliminary Assessment and Recommendation for Freshmen Scholarship Applicants
Applicants should fill the Application Form of Guangdong Government Outstanding International Student Scholarship (Form II), together with the two recommendation letters and academic transcripts. A small one-inch photo is needed to attach to the form. The application material should hand in to the Teaching Affairs Office of School of International Education in stipulated time. IV Methods of Winner Selection
Number of at school students' scholarship winners of last academic year shall be distributed in proportion according to the student numbers of each major program.
(I) Selection Methods of at School Students Scholarship (include undergraduate and master)
The Total Score of Applying Scholarship of at school students scholarship consists of three parts: the average score of last academic year's all courses, the attendance score of last academic year and the last academic year's competition award score.
Formula is as follow:
The Total Score of Applying Scholarship = (average score of last academic year's all courses ×65% + attendance score of last academic year×25% + the competition awards’ score×10%) – deducts marks.
Note:
(1）The attendance score of last academic year= last academic attendance rate×100
(2）The competition awards score is add up all the rewards points.
(3）Deducts marks is add up all the deducts points.
(II) Competition awards’ score
(1) The award winners of GPNU-level or above competition, the first pride gets 3 points, the second and the third pride get 2 points, the fourth to the eighth pride get 1 point. Every member of group competition will get the point by award level.
(2) The award winner of school-level competition, the first pride gets 2 points, the second and the third get 1 point. Every member of group competition will get the point by award level.
Note: Score in the competitions above must be organized by the School of International Education. Applicants should provide a photo copy of rewards certificate and keep original one for reference.
(III)Deduct marks items
(1) One course for leave will be deducted 0.1 point, the applicants who accumulates the deduction more than 2 points (not included) could not apply for scholarship.
(2) Every 5 courses for late will be deducted 0.1 point, the applicants who accumulates the deduction more than 0.8 points (not include 0.8 points) could not apply for scholarship. Those who arrive 30 minutes later than class time will be regard as late.
(IV)Further requests
(1) Under the same conditions, the winner of Freshmen Scholarship who apply for at school Students Scholarship can get priority.
(2) Under the same conditions, the applicants who are active in participating in the activities held in the class or school and assist head teacher with class managing work will get priority.
