To encourage and attract more outstanding International Student to study in our university, and to encourage and provide some financial aids to the outstanding International Student studying in our university so to create a lively and vigorous learning atmosphere, Guangdong Polytechnics Normal University has hereby established the International Student Scholarship for the International Student who have been studying in the university.
1. Basic Requirements for GPNU Scholarship Application
Applicants of the scholarship must be International Student who have been formally registered in GPNU for more than one semester, and have not been awarded with any of Chinese government scholarships. Applicants can be either language-learning students or major students.
1.1 Postgraduate Program Applicants
1.1.1 Postgraduate program applicants who have studied in GPNU for less than one year, should have an excellent final exam result for the last semester with an average score of all subjects of no lower than 80 (included). The attendance for the same semester should be no lower than 90% (leaving-taking excluded).
1.1.2 Postgraduate program applicants who have studied in GPNU for more than one year(included), shall pass all the subject courses for the last two semesters with an average score of no lower than 60 (included). The attendance for the same semesters should be no lower than 85% (included).
1.2 Undergraduate Program Applicants
1.2.1 Undergraduate program applicants who have studied in GPNU for less than one year, should have an excellent final exam result for the last semester with an average score of all subjects of no lower than 90 (included). The attendance for the same semester should be no lower than 90% (leaving-taking excluded).
1.2.2 Undergraduate program applicants who have studied in GPNU for more than one year (included), shall pass all the subject courses for the last two semesters with an average score of no lower than 60 (included). The attendance for the same semesters should be no lower than 85% (included).
1.3 Language Program Applicants
1.3.1 Language program applicants who have studied in GPNU for less than one year, should have an excellent final exam result for the last semester with an average score of all subjects of no lower than 90 ( included). The attendance for the same semester should be no lower than 95% (leaving-taking excluded).
1.3.2 Language program applicants who have studied in GPNU for more than one year(included), shall pass all the subject courses for the last two semesters with an average score of no lower than 60 (included). The attendance for the same semesters should be no lower than 90% (included).
1.4 The applicants must obey Chinese laws, as well as GPNU’S disciplines and regulations. They should also actively participate in activities, social practices organized by GPNU.
1.5 Students under any of the following circumstances shall be excluded from GPNU scholarship application:
1.5.1 Subjected to administrative penalties due to violation of Exit and Entry Administration Law of the People’s Republic of China.
1.5.2 Caused negative effects due to violation of social ethics.
1.5.3 Severely violated disciplines and rules of GPNU.
1.6 Further Assessments
The followings shall be considered as assessments in processing a scholarship application:
1.6.1 Whether the applicant is active in participating in the social activities held in the class or school and whether they assist head teacher with class managing work.
1.6.2 Whether the applicant participates in competitions (athletic, cultural competition, etc) and wins awards.
1.6.3 How many days of late attendance and times of leave-taking.
2. Scholarship Types and Amount
2.1 For postgraduate program(The number of winners is approximately 20% of currently
enrolled students with different levels of prize distributed by 30%, 30%, 40% of the winners) .
Scholarship amounts for different levels are as follows:
﹒First prize scholarship: RMB1600/year.
﹒Second prize scholarship: RMB1400/year.
﹒Third prize scholarship: RMB1200/year.
2.2 For undergraduate program (The number of winners is approximately 12% of currently enrolled students with different levels of prize distributed by 30%, 30%, 40% of the winners). Scholarship amounts for different levels are as follows:
﹒First prize scholarship: RMB1500/year.
﹒Second prize scholarship: RMB1200/year.
﹒Third prize scholarship: RMB1000/year.
2.3 For Chinese language program((The number of winners is approximately 12% of currently enrolled students with different levels of prize distributed by 30%, 30%, 40% of the winners). Scholarship amounts for different levels are as follows:
﹒First prize scholarship: RMB 1200/year.
﹒Second prize scholarship: RMB 1000/year.
﹒Third prize scholarship: RMB800/year.
3. Financial source of the expenditure
3.1 The expenditure of the scholarship relies on the related expenditure programs allocated by the university.
4. Means and procedure of the evaluation and selection
4.1 The applicants fill in an “Application Form for the International Student Scholarship of GPNU”, class tutor (head teacher) signs the recommendation, and hand in the form to the School of International Education, teaching affairs office.
4.2 Based on the actual situation of applying for international students, the teaching affairs office has conducted a preliminary examination on the materials submitted by students, and submitted the application materials to the scholarship evaluation “Scholarship Evaluation Group of international students of GPNU”.
4.3 According to the scholarship quota of our school, the "Scholarship Evaluation Group of international students of GPNU" will review the application materials of all international students one by one, and the scholarship winners will be identified and published.
The regulations come into force on March 21th, 2019. They are subject to explanation from the board of heads of the School of International Education of GPNU.
