In recognition of the distinguished international students who have made conspicuous progress, excellent both in academic and daily performances during their study in Guangdong Polytechnic Normal University (GPNU), GPNU has hereby formulated the present selection scheme in accordance with Administrative Measures for the Enrollment and Cultivation of International Students by Schools (Order No. 42) by the Ministry of Education, Ministry of Foreign Affairs, and Ministry of Public Security, Selection Regulations for “GPNU outstanding Graduates”, and Interim Measures for GPNU outstanding Postgraduate Awards, in conjunction with the actual conditions of School of International Education (SIE).
I. Selection Criteria
Article 1 The term "international students" as used in the present scheme refers to international students who do not have Chinese nationality and are educated in schools under the Nationality Law of the People's Republic of China.
Article 2 The selection targets are the graduating international students of master program or undergraduate program.
Article 3 Abide by Chinese laws, regulations and policies, abide by the rules and regulations of the school, respect Chinese customs and behave well during school time.
Article 4 Study diligently with excellent grades and competent professional ability, and thus play an exemplary role among the students.
Article 5 All courses are eligible or the grade point average (GPA) reaches 2.00 and above, and the weighted average score is 85 or more or the grade point average (GPA) is 3.50 and above, and the average attendance rate is over 90%, with good grades (80 points or above) in graduation thesis (design).
Article 6 The number of “outstanding graduates” shall be 10% of the number of master graduates and undergraduates respectively in the current year.
Article 7 During the school time in GPNU, the student was awarded the “Guangdong Government Outstanding International Student Scholarship” or “Guangdong Polytechnic Normal University Scholarship for International Students”, at the same time meeting one of the following conditions:
1. Master International Students
Won the above awards twice.
2. Undergraduate International Students
(1) Won the above awards four times;
(2) Won the above awards three times, at least two of which were “Guangdong Government Outstanding International Student Scholarship” .
Article 8 Those who are distinguished in their professional field or social activities, cultural and sports activities, and various competitions shall be given priority under the same conditions.
II. Selection process and Methods
Article 9 The selection of outstanding graduates of international students includes five stages: application, primary election, publicity, recommendation and approval.
Article 10 Applicants for outstanding graduates of international students shall submit the application materials to the Teaching Affairs Office of SIE within the prescribed time, which should include personal documents of about 500 words (in Chinese or English) and the certificate of award, both paper copies and electronic version.
Article 11 The Teaching Affairs Office of SIE is responsible for organizing and reviewing applicant materials. SIE has established a selection team for outstanding international graduates comprised of SIE leaders and head teachers of graduating classes. The applicants who have passed the primary election in accordance with the proportion will be publicized for 5 working days.
Article 12 SIE shall report the recommendation name list of the students who pass the publicity without objection, or with objection but is still recommended after verification, to the Students Affairs Department and Postgraduate Department respectively. The university shall hold an evaluation meeting to review and approve.
III. Incentives
Article 13 Students who pass the present selection scheme will be granted the title of “Outstanding Graduate” with honorary certificate.
IV. Supplementary
Article 14 The present selection scheme shall be implemented at the date of promulgation and shall be interpreted by SIE.
